Did you get here from the Speed Reading page? If not please go back there and read that short page and then click on the link at the bottom to get here again.

KMapping follows closely on the heels of the Speed Reading course. In fact so close on the heels of that earlier phase that many students don't even notice we have changed tack. The KMap is our version of the world famous Mind Map developed by Tony Buzan. We have added elements, perfected the mind map and developed an entire knowledge engineering discipline around it that we call CAKE - Computer Aided Knowledge Engineering. CAKE produced the map you see on our home page. We call our version of the mind map a KMap (short for Knowledge Map) and it really is a mind map on steroids!

A KMap is a visual representation of knowledge. As close to 98% of human beings are very visually oriented this is the perfect way in which to represent information. Unfortunately the school system that we all go through teaches us to use our left brain predominantly. The left brain is responsible for logic, words, numbers, sequence, linearity, analysis and lists. This is what our schools teach all youngsters and have done so for at least as long as schools have existed. The right brain on the other hand is responsible for rhythm, spatial awareness, imagination, daydreaming, colour, dimension and gestalt (whole picture: seeing the wood for the trees) and this has been nearly totally driven out of most of us.

Our system hinges on the use of the right brain at least as much as if not more than the left brain. We believe in using our entire brain not just half of it. If you don't believe that our schools teach us to ignore our right hemisphere then think what would happen if you took a coloured pen and underlined titles and important words in your notes you wrote while sitting in lectures in class. I bet your teacher would have thrown a fit! Heaven help you if you had 'doodled' as we do on our KMaps!

Course Curriculum

Day 1 & 2 Discussion on the brains natural architecture and how it has been short-circuited by modern teaching/training methods. What is radiant thinking and how does it affect the way we should be filling our minds up.
Day 3 & 4 Foundation: Brainstorming (words & images) >>> how mind mapping follows on from brainstorming.
Day 5 & 6 Structure of the mind map
Day 7 & 8 Synthesis >>> organizing ideas, memory, creative thinking, group mind mapping.
Day 9 & 10 Uses of mind maps >>> self-analysis, problem-solving, the mind map diary, family study and story telling. Education >>> thinking, teaching, master mind maps. Business and Professional >>> meetings, presentations, management, computer mind mapping. The future >>> radiant thinking, mental literacy.

KMap SR5 covers all these days of study.

Our KMapping course follows closely on the Speed Reading course taking our students from 1200 wpm to 5000+ wpm. More importantly it teaches a new method of note-taking that is active and involves the use of the right hemisphere of the brain. This leads to notes that are compact and visually exciting and meaningful. These notes are therefore far easier to remember and recall. In fact near photographic recall is possible. But to get true photographic recall of even entire books you need the next course...
