Welcome to our download page. We created this page to cater to our specifications and goals for this site which dictate that we do not include any pictures, frames or other special layout features aiming not for a glossy magazine look but a lean, mean, fast website, cacheable to your local hard disk or even carried around on a single floppy disk but, most importantly, perfectly to the  point in answering your questions.

Some of Our Software Requirements on this Website Development

  1. Very few PICTURES allowed and those only where they will make a useful addition to the site not just something to pretty it up. We know that most of our users are surfing the web using a limited speed dial-up connection and therefore are more appreciative of a fast site. For example this page is 8 Kilobyte in size and should take 4 seconds to load into your browser at a modem speed of 28.8 Kbps. No attempt to be made to create a glossy magazine type of website - all efforts to be concentrated into creating a useable and useful website instead.
  2. Pages to contain only straight HTML so if a user clicks on each of the links above letting his or her browser load the page fully and then moves onto another link repeating the process until the entire website has been loaded up sequentially into a browser that user will then be able to disconnect his modem and read the pages visited off-line without incurring high telephone charges.
  3. Maximum compactness of the site with maximum user satisfaction. Maximum size limitation 1.44Mb to comply with requirement that site always fits on a single floppy disk and can be carried around in a shirt pocket or hand bag. Current size <265 Kb.
  4. To provide various techniques and technologies that will enable users to download this entire website to allow off line reading thereby saving internet connecting charges.
  5. Website to be fully cross-platform capable. The zip file on our downloads page tested and unzips perfectly well on Windows, UNIX, Linux and OSX platforms as well as any *NIX platform.

The downloads or download techniques on this page are all designed to allow you to quickly capture a copy of this website to your local machine so that you can then disconnect from the internet and read through these pages without incurring telephone charges. We strongly recommend that you download the .zip file (option 1 below) as that file is smallest and when decompressed will give you the best rendering of these pages. Also HTML being fully cross platform the bunch of files you get will be fully readable on ANY operating system. The site is also kept this small so that you can carry the entire site on a single floppy disk and at less than 90Kb in size it is no hardship on you to e-mail the .zip file to anyone you think might be interested in following this course. Please do this for us. You can find the .zip file at the link below (point 1) if we did not attach it to an e-mail for you. The more we spread the word of Java the more people will get into it and the higher the salaries will climb and number of opportunities increase. Thank you in advance for forwarding this .zip file to as many people on your address book as possible.

You don't even need the downloads if you don't want to bother yourself with downloading. Our pages contain only straight HTML so if you just click on each of the links above and let your browser load the page fully (look for the word <done> in the status bar at the bottom of your browser or for the rotating image icon to stop rotating) and then move onto another link and onto another until you have visited all the website pages and allowed the browser to load them fully then disconnect and read the pages off-line without incurring high telephone charges.

Entire Website Excluding .pdf files

Download Instructions/Options

  1. To download a .zip file (118 Kb) that contains the entire site please click here. Once the download completes please unzip the file in a folder of your choosing. The unzip process will create the directory structure necessary to recreate our entire website on your local hard disk which you can then browse at your leisure and off-line. To do this double-click the file index.htm and your preferred browser should open with the first file of our website in it. You can then click on the various links to navigate the site. If you are updating your local hard disk image of our website please let Winzip overwrite any files you have there. If you need a tool to read/decompress zip files please see the WinZip website. Several mirrors are also provided at the Tucows site. We find the Tanzanian sites don't always work but the South African ones do and are fast because they are so close to us in cyberspace terms. Linux comes with gunzip and tar - see the man and/or info pages for help on using these. Apple OS X similarly comes with its own unzip software as well as the standard UNIX gunzip and tar.
  2. To download a self-extracting .zip file (180 Kb) containing only the HTML files please click here. Do this if you don't have WinZip on your computer. Use the .zip file (1 above) for Linux, Unix, *nix, OSX, OS/2, BeOS platforms.
  3. Use a webspider such as Teleport Pro (Windows) or wget (*nix)  to capture this site. Unlike many other sites we don't mind you doing this. Please see the Teleport website or the man pages on wget for more information about this.
  4. Alternatively send us an e-mail and we will e-mail to you a .zip, .exe (self extracting zip) or .pdf file of the site for you to read. Please remember to state what type of file you want. If you don't state this we will send you a self extracting .zip file (2 above) as that is the one most people can read without any special software.

Other .pdf Files

  1. Our Cognitive Skills courses are proving to be EXTREMELY popular. We are therefore providing here a brochure in .pdf form for you to download to your computer and read at your leisure (right-click and choose <<Save Target as>> and save it to your hard disk). This file is 946 MB in size and will take approximately 12 minutes to download on a 56KBps dial up connection. You will of course need Acrobat Reader to read this.
  2. The full website including all .pdf files (1.8Mb)
  3. Here are some sample KMaps® (Knowledge Maps known elsewhere as Mind Maps) that you can download to see what they are like. These are not in the zip file. You need to get them from the internet. (right-click and choose <<Save Target as>> and save it to your hard disk).
